The Freedom Of Information Party is the first political party to be formed in the TBG universe. To date, the only realistic candidate for the Presidency has been the starship Constitution, but we aim to offer the electorate a viable alternative. The current President's popularity and political prowess combine to make him a shrewd political opponent, but with your help we feel we could have an F I P candidate as President in the near future.
Each turn the President is given access to up to date information on every star system containing an alien vessel. Our current President has exercised his democratic right to keep this information low key, but we feel that the time has come for all law abiding TBG citizens to be given a chance to openly share in this database. In addition we aim to give Newbies open access to this information for a limited time without expecting them to become Party members.
The identity of the official F I P candidate is being withheld for the moment, but it will be unveiled shortly before the election on turn 709. We hope that by then our policies will have sold themselves convincing many of you to join our political ranks and vote for The Freedom Of Information Party at the next election.
1. The presidential database shall be open to all members of The Freedom of Information Party.
2. The presidential database shall be open to all Newbies who hold a minimum of 1 vote, regardless of their political beliefs, until they reach an age of 50 turns (unless they commit some gross violation of universal etiquette).
3. The production of module type and tech level and the race and skill of rogue bands will be carefully monitored and adjusted to reflect the wishes of the TBG community.
4. No concessions shall be granted to the Unholy Trinity.
5. Ministries shall be rotated amongst party members on a regular basis with preference given to those in good standing with the party.
1. Membership is not exclusive to any alliance or organisation within TBG. All captains are entitled to join with the obvious exception of those who are known to have terrorised others through acts of piracy or through the unchaining of Evil.
2. All party members are required to vote for the official party candidate and are not to erase his/her political influence at any location.
3. When elected, Ministers are expected to advise the President on Party policy as well as making concerted efforts to keep in touch with the wishes of the TBG community. This particularly applies to module and rogue production.
4. In the event of more than one F I P member standing for election, all members will be expected to vote to decide who will stand as the official candidate.
